Its members work in corporations, universities, and government, using their knowledge of chemical processes to develop safe and useful products for the benefit of society. AIChE fosters and disseminates chemical engineering knowledge, assists the professional and personal growth of its members, and applies the expertise of its members to address societal needs and improve the quality of life. Through its varied programs, AIChE continues to be a focal point for information exchange on the frontiers of chemical engineering research in such areas as advanced manufacturing, energy, sustainability, biological and environmental engineering, nanotechnology, and chemical plant safety and security.

Position Summary ó AIChE Membership Intern

The AIChE Membership team is responsible for the curation and marketing of member benefits for all AIChE members including the Student Chapters for undergraduate students, graduate students, post docs and both academic and industrial professionals. The team also manages the AIChE Local Sections and the membership booth at most conferences. The team works closely with volunteers on several membership projects and student conferences, while also working with cross-functional groups within AIChE.

We are currently seeking an Intern to support multiple projects. Must be able to work up to 15 hours per week.


Under the direction of the Manager, Early Career Membership, the Membership Intern will achieve the following objectives:

  • Provide administrative support for various membership team initiatives
  • Communicate directly with members and volunteers by phone and email on various topics
  • Create, edit, and review member-facing content published on AIChEís webpage and other forms of media
  • Track and report on metrics associated with AIChE Engage, conferences, membership, and other programs as it relates to the Chemical Engineering profession
  • Update and quality check information in Personify database
  • Create, build and quality check plaques and certificates
  • Coordinate packing and shipping of materials to AIChE conferences
  • Work effectively, both independently and in a team environment, to meet deadlines
  • Execute other projects as assigned by direct supervisor and other team members in coordination with direct supervisor

  • Microsoft Suite of Products (Outlook, PowerPoint, etc)

Education & Work Experience Requirements

Undergraduate Chemical Engineering students preferred, but not required

A minimum GPA of 3.0

Vaccination Requirement

All employees are expected to be fully vaccinated by the first day of employment, to upload their card and to fill out a health survey if they are reporting to the physical office.


The pay is $15Ė$17/hour

Location & Travel

This position is located at our New York City Global Office, with a hybrid work from home option. Candidate must be able to commute to the New York City office.
