AIChE is a professional society of more than 60,000 chemical engineers in 110 countries. Its members work in corporations, universities and government, using their knowledge of chemical processes to develop safe and useful products for the benefit of society. Through its varied programs, AIChE continues to be a focal point for information exchange on the frontiers of chemical engineering research in such areas as energy, sustainability, biological and environmental engineering, nanotechnology, and chemical plant safety and security.

Position Summary

AIChE Academy brings a full array of education and training resources to chemical engineers and the companies they work for. From process safety to fundamentals, biomanufacturing to solids handling, AIChE Academy delivers courses, presentations and videos that help chemical engineers learn.

We are seeking a Part-Time Moderator to assist with monitoring Academyís virtual courses. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Academy team and instructors with administrative tasks associated with the virtual courses.

Training will be provided on the following platforms: WebEx, Teams, and Zoom. Work schedule will vary and may fluctuate, but not to exceed 35 hours per month. A work laptop will be provided.


Under the direction of the Meetings Manager, The Part-Time Moderator will achieve the following objectives:

  • Monitor virtual courses
  • Provide basic troubleshooting for course instructors and attendees
  • Track attendee counts for in-company courses
  • Correspond with attendees and instructors via email or zoom/teams chat
  • Provide quiz reports to instructors (imported from Webex to Excel)
  • Co-lead platform rehearsal for certain courses

  • Willingness to learn new platforms to provide troubleshooting

  • Detail oriented

Software Proficiencies

  • Knowledge of WebEx, Teams, and Zoom Webinars preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Education & Work Experience Requirements

  • G.E.D or High school diploma
  • Prior work experience within an office or professional virtual setting


This is a remote position, but the individual must reside within the United States.
