Part-Time Marketing Associate

Department: MARKETING - TEMP

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), founded in 1908, is a professional association of more than 60,000 chemical engineers worldwide. AIChE fosters and disseminates chemical engineering knowledge, supports the professional and personal growth of its members, and applies the expertise of its members to address societal needs and improve the quality of life.

The AIChE Marketing team is responsible for the discovery, design, development and delivery of AIChE’s marketing initiatives, working closely with cross-functional groups within AIChE. We are seeking a Marketing Associate to develop and execute multiple marketing initiatives for our different market segments or communities.

Overview

A successful Marketing Associate will be responsible for helping to develop and execute marketing campaigns to help grow and engage various market segments. In our search for a Marketing Associate, we are seeking an individual with passion, creativity, and a broad range of marketing, research, and communications expertise.  He/she will need experience in working in a fast-paced environment; writing marketing messaging and proofreading; communicating ideas and actions in a clear and concise manor; executing digital marketing and traditional marketing initiatives; understanding how to use and read analytics to measure the effects of campaigns; and working with outside vendors in an efficient way.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and executing marketing campaigns and tactics in line with organization objectives, such as:
    • Digital marketing (social, email, retargeting, website)
    • Traditional marketing (direct mail, print ads)
    • Production (working with creative team, printer, mail house, promotion execution)
  • Implementing projects and campaigns to support virtual and in-person conferences, education (webinars, eLearning courses, and other courses), membership, and other product areas
  • Writing and proofreading marketing messages for various communications, such as emails, website, print and digital marketing channels
  • Collaborating with cross-functional departments to discuss campaigns, initiatives, and results.
  • Liaising with vendors and strategic partners
  • Helping develop and execute surveys and other research projects
  • Maintaining marketing plans and calendars
  • Helping to research industry & association trends, competitive products, innovations, and best practices to identify and recommend implementable growth opportunities
  • Providing data to help develop reports and presentations
  • Understanding analytics
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Business and creative writing
  • Experience with and general understanding of:
    • Segmentation
    • Social media
    • Email marketing
    • Content marketing
    • Retargeting
    • Google ads
    • website analytics
  • Experience in volunteer-led, or science and engineering organizations a plus
  • Works well under pressure, preferably with an agency background
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a cross functional team environment
  • Collaborator and team player

Software Proficiency:

  • Social and content management platforms
  • Email marketing tools
  • Google Analytics and Google ecommerce
  • Project management tools
  • Survey technology knowledge such as Qualtrics and Survey Monkey
  • Microsoft Office

Educational Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree and/or graduate degree in marketing
